Data Literacy for Kids

Written and illustrated by our founder, Kathleen Yu, Data Literacy for Kids is the first of its kind: a children's book all about data!

This book is an example of how creativity can be used to solve problems in an innovative and unique way. After noticing the data literacy gap in her community, Kathleen made it her mission to teach young students data literacy skills.

Through colorful illustrations and hands-on activities, readers will learn how to collect, visualize, and use data in a simple, fun, and interactive way.

All proceeds from the book will go directly towards fulfilling Feeding Creativity's mission.

"Kathleen's illustrations bring life to the book’s words. Children will enjoy reading this book and seeing the images that represent the words. Computers are the art of everyday life, and the need to understand what data is will help your child succeed in any career field they choose. I highly recommend you buy this book and have conversations with your child about its foundation. Overall, this is an excellent children’s book that makes learning enjoyable." ~ Reader's Favorite

"Creativity is thinking up new things. Innovation is doing new things."

Why is Creativity Important?

Creativity is imagination, ingenuity, and innovation. Creativity is a crucial facet to our lives; it is what enables us to create. It challenges the mind to think outside of the box, and is what fuels entrepreneurship, scientific discovery, and technological advancement. Creative thinking empowers and inspires individuals to challenge the norm- a necessity in both the business world and STEM fields. Creativity is what creates new products and services, technology and mathematical models, innovation and advancement.
